Overview

This article is for connected users (Free and Professional plans). The Cookie Compliance for WordPress plugin includes a React-based admin interface. After connecting your site, navigate to Compliance (top-level menu) in your WordPress dashboard to access it. New installs open this interface. A site still on the classic screen can switch from the A new admin interface is available card in the sidebar (Switch to the new interface); your settings, connection and banner stay as they are.

The admin interface is organized into four tabs: Overview (default), Cookie Consent, Privacy Consent, and Consent Logs.

Overview Tab

The Overview tab is the default landing page for connected users. It tells you at a glance whether your site is protected and what, if anything, to fix.

Verdict

At the top, a headline summarises your status. When something needs attention it shows a count such as 2 things to fix. If the status cannot be loaded or confirmed yet, the headline says so (for example, “Loading your status…”) and no box is shown as green.

First-Run Setup Wizard

After connecting for the first time, a short inline wizard (Complete Your Setup) appears:

  1. Banner style — Standard or Compact (New engine only; on the Classic engine, setup starts at Laws)
  2. Laws — select which privacy regulations apply to your site
  3. Languages — add additional banner languages

You can skip steps and return later. Click Apply & Finish to apply the languages you picked and close the wizard. When you are done, you are guided to select your consent signals.

The Six Boxes

Six status boxes show the state of each protection. Each box has a status dot, a value and a short line of detail:

  1. Banner — whether the banner is live on your site, and which one: Standard banner or Compact banner on the New engine, or the engine name on the Classic engine. Green only while the banner is live. Links: Banner settings (opens the Cookie Consent tab) and Preview on my site.
  2. Script blocking — whether scripts are held until visitors choose. It shows whether script blocking is on; to see which providers are held, open Admin Portal → Autoblocking.
  3. Google Consent Mode — whether Google Consent Mode v2 is on.
  4. Meta & Microsoft — whether Meta (Facebook) and Microsoft consent signals are on. These are Pro features. When they are off the box shows Not configured (shown as Inactive on a Banner Only plan), which is optional and not something to fix.
  5. GPC signal — whether Global Privacy Control is honoured. When it is off the box shows Not configured (shown as Inactive on a Banner Only plan), which is optional and not something to fix. The Recommended label appears only when GPC is off and CCPA or Other U.S. State Laws is selected; that does count in things to fix. If GPC is on but script blocking is off, the box shows an amber warning that nothing is held. If GPC is on, script blocking is on and a Free site is past its visit limit, the box is red and shows Not honored.
  6. Visit limit — Free plan: how much of your 30-day visit allowance you have used. Professional plan: Unlimited.

Boxes that need attention show a button that takes you straight to the right place, and so do some boxes that are off: Review autoblocking opens the Cookie Consent tab at the setting cards, Consent signals opens the Consent Signals panel, Review GPC setting opens the setting cards, and See plans opens the plans screen when the remedy is a plan.

Preview on my site

Preview on my site opens your site with the banner forced on, so you can see the real banner even when it would be hidden for you. Your banner may be hidden when your browser sends Global Privacy Control, when your region does not require a banner, or when you have already made a choice. For administrators who are logged in, Preview shows it anyway and says why it can be hidden (open Can’t see your banner? on the Banner box). Nothing is saved when you preview. The same link and explanation are on the Your banner panel of the Cookie Consent tab.

Consents in the Last 7 Days

Below the boxes, a count of consents recorded in the last 7 days, split by your own consent level names (for example Accept, Custom, Reject). On the Free plan it also shows visits this cycle against your limit. View consent logs opens the Consent Logs tab.

Consent & Traffic Analytics

Below that, a collapsible Consent & traffic analytics section opens two charts of the last 30 days. Each point is a complete day (today is left out). The first shows consents recorded per day, by consent level (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3). The second shows privacy (form) consent logs per day. They are the same charts as the WordPress dashboard widget. The section is not shown on a site whose settings are managed by a network.

Next Steps

A Next steps list appears when there is something useful to do that the boxes do not already say. It can suggest:

  • choosing your privacy laws (Choose laws) when none are selected
  • turning on Google Consent Mode when a known Google plugin (Site Kit, MonsterInsights, WP Google Analytics or GTM4WP) is active, or Facebook / Microsoft consent signals when a Facebook Pixel plugin or the Microsoft Clarity plugin is active (Review consent signals; See plans on the Free plan, where Facebook and Microsoft signals need Pro). Tags added any other way are not detected.
  • Open Privacy Consent when a supported form plugin on your site is not recording proof of consent yet

The list is hidden when there is nothing to do. A green Your banner is live. notice also appears once after you finish setup and the banner goes live.

Consent Signals

The Consent Signals panel opens inline. Open it from the Cookie Consent tab (Laws, languages & signals → Consent signals) or from an action button (Consent signals) or Next steps item on the Overview tab. It has two sections, Ad Platforms and Browser Signals. Pick a card to see its settings, then click Apply:

Ad Platforms

  • Google Consent Mode v2 (Free) — sends ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization signals
  • Facebook (Pro) — Facebook (Meta) Consent Mode: sends the consent level signal to Meta Pixel
  • Microsoft (Pro) — Microsoft Consent Mode: sends ad_storage, analytics_storage, Pixie, and Clarity signals

Browser Signals

  • Global Privacy Control (turning it on requires Pro; a Free site that already has it on can still edit it) — honors the browser GPC signal as an opt-out
  • Do Not Track (Free) — honors the browser DNT signal

Pro-only signals (Facebook, Microsoft) show a Pro badge on the Free plan with an upgrade prompt.

Cookie Consent Tab

For connected users, the Cookie Consent tab has four areas: the Your banner panel, the Laws, languages & signals card, the setting cards, and the WordPress Settings sections. Network Administrators also see Network Settings.

Your banner

Shows the banner your site runs: the Engine (Classic or New) and, on the New engine, the Style (Standard or Compact), which you can change here. Actions: Preview on my site, Change engine in Admin Portal, Edit colours & text in Admin Portal. A line shows when settings were last synced (Synced, or Not synced yet). If you cannot see your banner on your own site, Preview on my site shows it anyway (see Preview on my site above); nothing is saved.

Laws, languages & signals

A card with three rows:

  • Laws — the regulations that apply to your site, as pills. Edit laws (or Add laws when none are selected) opens an inline law selector. On a connected site, when the country list loads, the selector also has a Where is your company based? row: choose your company’s country and click Save, and it is saved to your Cookie Compliance account.
  • Languages — how many banner languages you use. Manage languages opens the Admin Portal.
  • Consent signals — the signals switched on, as pills (or “None switched on”). The Consent signals button opens the Consent Signals panel described above.

Setting cards

A grid of law-aware setting cards that adapts based on the regulations you’ve selected. Each card shows its current value with a color-coded compliance status dot (green = compliant, yellow = warning, red = critical) and which laws require it. Connected sites show up to ten cards (some only for certain laws): Script blocking engine (the master switch above Autoblocking), Autoblocking, Accept on scroll, Accept on click, Accept on close, Refuse button, Update consent, GPC support, Consent expiry, and Cookie wall. Autoblocking is a toggle on the card. Accept on close, Cookie wall, and GPC support show Manage in Admin Portal (GPC can also be edited in the Consent Signals panel when the plan allows it). Scroll, click, Update consent, refuse, and consent expiry do not. A locked Free GPC card shows Upgrade to Pro.

WordPress Settings

Below the setting cards, accordion sections for connected users (saved with Save WordPress Settings):

  • Privacy Policy — enable a privacy policy link in the banner. Choose your policy page and turn on Sync with WordPress Privacy Page; saving sends your WordPress privacy page to the banner. The link text is set in the Admin Portal (Configuration → Behavior). With plugin 3.1.16 or later, these are the only Privacy Policy options on a connected site.
  • Custom Scripts — add JavaScript to the page head or body that executes based on consent state (toggle between Head and Body tabs).
  • Display & Animation — a custom CSS class for the [cookies_revoke] and [cookies_policy_link] shortcode buttons. Banner opacity is set in the Admin Portal (Configuration → Design).
  • Technical Settings — bot detection (on by default), AMP support, WP Consent API, caching compatibility (on by default), debug mode, excluded script handles (one WP handle per line, never autoblocked), conditional display rule builder (show/hide banner on specific pages, post types, taxonomies, or user types), delete data on deactivation, and a Purge Cache button to force re-fetch from the portal.

Consent Logs Tab

View and export consent records for your site.

Consent Stats

A breakdown bar showing total consents, personalized, balanced, and private counts. Consent level names reflect your custom labels configured in the portal.

Consent Log Table

Paginated consent records showing Consent ID, Consent Level (pill badge), Categories, Date/Time, and IP Address (masked).

  • Free plan: 7-day retention window
  • Professional plan: long-term retention with date-range queries up to 90 days at a time

Compliance Evidence

Automated compliance checks in three tabs:

  • GDPR (Free + Pro) — consent banner, cookie categorization, data retention, DPO contact
  • CCPA (Free + Pro) — GPC/Do Not Sell signal, opt-out mechanism, privacy policy link, consumer rights request handling
  • ePrivacy (Pro only) — prior consent, consent withdrawal, cookie lifetime disclosure, legitimate interest

Each check shows: green checkmark (pass), yellow triangle (warning), red circle (fail), or gray dash (manual verification required).

Export

Professional plan users can export consent logs as CSV from the sidebar. Free plan users see a limited export with an upgrade prompt.

Form Consent: The Consent Logs tab also lists privacy (form) consent records in a Form Consent section (Free plan: up to 100 records). Choose which forms record consent on the Privacy Consent tab. The Admin Portal shows the same records at app.hu-manity.co → Consent Logs → Privacy Consent.

Navigating Between Tabs

Click the tab labels at the top of the admin page to switch between Overview, Cookie Consent, Privacy Consent, and Consent Logs. You can also link directly to a tab using URL fragments. The fragments keep their original names, so #protection still opens Overview, #settings opens Cookie Consent, and #audit-trail opens Consent Logs:

  • ?page=cookie-notice#protection

  • ?page=cookie-notice#privacy-consent
  • ?page=cookie-notice#audit-trail

Sidebar

The sidebar (right column) shows:

  • Domain Info Card — domain name, Protection (Active only while your banner is live), plan, App ID, App Secret Key, Save and Connect, Pull latest settings with the last-synced time, and (Professional) Open Admin Portal.
  • Upgrade prompt (Free plan only) — a call-to-action to upgrade to the Professional plan.
